West Virginia Entrepreneurs Launch Deer Farm

According to WV News, Jaelyn and Tyler Rohrbough of Bruceton Mills have turned their dream of owning a deer farm into reality with help from the West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WV SBDC). Their new venture, Pointed Acres LLC, raises white-tailed deer and marks a major step forward in their entrepreneurial journey.

Though both come from scientific backgrounds, the Rohrboughs had little experience starting a business. While setting up a business bank account, they were advised to contact the WV SBDC for guidance. That connection led them to business coach Neeley Satzer, who provided step-by-step support throughout the startup process.

Satzer helped the couple navigate critical early challenges, from registering the business and managing finances to understanding regulatory and operational requirements. She also drew on the WV SBDC’s statewide network of coaches to connect them with additional expertise as needed.

Jaelyn credits the WV SBDC’s support with helping them avoid costly mistakes. “Having someone to walk you through the steps is invaluable,” she said. “Neeley saved our butts multiple times.”

The WV SBDC offers free, confidential coaching to small business owners across West Virginia, assisting entrepreneurs at every stage—from idea development and startup to growth and expansion. Through its statewide network, the organization helps new business owners like the Rohrboughs navigate challenges and lay a strong foundation for long-term success.
