Senator Joni Ernst, Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, named The Farmer’s Daughters of Fremont County her latest Small Business of the Week, part of an ongoing effort to spotlight a small business in each of Iowa’s 99 counties throughout the current Congress.
“The Farmer’s Daughters has decorated southwest Iowa with success, growing from a pop-up shop into a thriving family business serving Iowans,” Ernst said, crediting owners Stacy and Ron for making community service part of what she called “the perfect arrangement,” whether they’re helping a customer find the right piece for their home or building a floral arrangement for a major life moment.
The business started small and stayed local for years before expanding. Stacy Burgoin-Burge launched The Farmer’s Daughters in 2014, selling vintage finds and home décor out of pop-up antique booths at events like Vintage & Made Fair and Junkstock. As demand grew, she opened a storefront in Sidney and added floral arrangements to the business in 2017. Her husband, Ron Burge, later joined full-time, and the two expanded the operation to additional locations in Glenwood and Shenandoah.
The business today sells curated home décor, gifts, vintage items, and locally made products alongside personalized floral arrangements and delivery, including six- and twelve-month “Bloom of the Month” subscriptions featuring fresh flowers and custom designs each cycle. Beyond retail, The Farmer’s Daughters supports local fairs, youth programs, and educational initiatives across southwest Iowa.
The recognition is one entry in a long-running series: Ernst’s office has spotlighted dozens of Iowa small businesses this Congress alone, from dairy farms and seed suppliers to boutiques and event venues, as part of her stated goal of reaching every county in the state.
