Stock Titan reports that small business sales stabilized in February as larger average transaction sizes helped offset lower sales volumes impacted by winter weather, according to the latest data from Fiserv.
The report indicates that severe winter conditions in several regions weighed on transaction activity during the month. However, businesses were able to maintain relatively stable sales overall because customers spent more per purchase.
Higher ticket sizes helped compensate for the decline in the number of transactions, demonstrating how consumer spending patterns can balance out seasonal disruptions. While weather-related challenges reduced foot traffic in some areas, the increase in transaction value helped small businesses sustain overall performance.
The findings highlight the resilience of small businesses during periods of seasonal disruption. Even as harsh weather conditions affected customer visits and purchase frequency, stronger spending per transaction helped stabilize sales results.
Fiserv’s data suggests that while external factors such as weather can temporarily affect transaction volumes, shifts in customer purchasing behavior can help offset those impacts and maintain overall sales stability.
