Slack Debuts Lists to Keep Projects on Track

Slack has introduced a new feature called Lists, designed to help teams manage projects, track work, and stay aligned without leaving the platform. The tool is part of Slack’s vision for a digital headquarters, making it easier for teams to move from conversation to action in one place.

With Lists, users can create and manage tasks directly inside Slack. Each list can include items with assignees, due dates, statuses, and progress tracking, ensuring that projects and requests are clearly organized. Team members can share updates in real time, tag colleagues, and link lists to channels or direct messages, keeping work visible and easy to follow.

Slack is also rolling out customizable templates to help teams get started quickly on common workflows, such as onboarding checklists, IT requests, or campaign planning. Lists can connect seamlessly with Slack’s workflow automation tools, enabling actions like automatically updating task statuses or sending reminders.

For customer-facing teams, Lists integrate with Salesforce, allowing users to link tasks and projects with Salesforce records. This integration centralizes information from different systems, helping teams manage customer requests and projects without switching tools.

Currently, Slack Lists is available in a pilot program, with general availability expected in 2025. The feature reflects Slack’s broader evolution from a messaging app into a central productivity platform that combines communication, workflows, and task management.

As organizations continue to adapt to hybrid and distributed work, Lists gives teams a built-in way to stay coordinated, reduce reliance on multiple apps, and keep focus on the tasks that matter most. By turning conversations into structured workflows, Slack aims to make work more connected and productive.
