HomeServices of America Announces New CEO

HomeServices of America, a Berkshire Hathaway-owned leader in residential real estate services, has named Chris Kelly as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. The announcement comes as Gino Blefari, who led the company for more than five years, steps down from his executive role to become Chairman Emeritus.

Kelly, previously Executive Vice President at the company, brings over two decades of industry experience to the top job. A former real estate and finance attorney, he joined HomeServices in 2007 as General Counsel for ReeceNichols, a Kansas City-based subsidiary. His leadership resume also includes serving as CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies in North Texas, one of HomeServices’ key regional brokerages.

“It’s a tremendous privilege to take on this responsibility,” said Kelly. “HomeServices has built its reputation on the strength of its people, and I look forward to working closely with our teams to continue setting the standard in real estate, mortgage, title, insurance, and related services.”

Blefari, who now transitions to an advisory role, will continue to lend strategic support to both HomeServices of America and its franchise network, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. In a statement, he expressed pride in the organization’s accomplishments during his tenure and confidence in its continued momentum under Kelly’s leadership.

“It has been an incredible honor to serve as CEO,” Blefari said. “I’m excited to support the next phase of growth and innovation as we continue helping people across the country achieve homeownership.”

Headquartered in Minneapolis, HomeServices of America operates an extensive network of brokerage, mortgage, title, insurance, and relocation companies nationwide. It also oversees the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices franchise network, one of the most recognized names in residential real estate.

The leadership transition marks a new chapter for the firm as it positions itself for long-term growth amid evolving market conditions and consumer needs.
